What Is Membership?

Church membership is how God's people grow, belong, and are cared for. Throughout the New Testament, believers aren't just attenders of the church; they're accountable, contributing members of a specific local body.

When Hebrews 13:17 calls Christians to submit to leaders who will give an account for their souls, it raises a question: which leaders and for whom? Membership answers that. When Scripture commands us to not neglect meeting together, but encourage one another (Hebrews 10:24-25), it assumes we know each other. When elders are told to care for the flock among you (1 Peter 5:2), membership defines the flock. And when a church must lovingly correct a brother or sister walking in sin (Matthew 18, 1 Corinthians 5), membership clarifies who the church is in that process.

At Citadel Square, membership means you're not a spectator — you're known, you're shepherded, and you belong to a specific people committed to following Christ together.

How do I become a Member?

Step One

Watch and read our Membership Essentials materials. Here you will learn all you need to know about our church, what we believe, and what it means to be a member at Citadel Square. This step will take about 90 mins (an hour of videos + time for reading).

Step Two

Attend a Membership Class. Here, you will meet some of our leaders, dive a little bit deeper into what it means to be a member, and have the chance to ask any questions you have. Membership Classes are offered every other month on Sunday Morning. This is a 90-minute class that meets during the 9 am service. Upcoming Membership Classes are on:

Step Three

Membership Interview. Once you attend a Membership Class, you will receive a membership application and schedule a time meet with one of our staff for a membership interview.

Step Four
