The Good News of Jesus Christ
The Gospel is the message of the good news of salvation, the word of truth offered to mankind by grace through faith in the finished work of Christ on the cross. It is a message not only of eternal life, but one that encompasses the total plan of God to redeem people from the ravages of sin, death, Satan, and the curse that now covers the earth.
Romans 3:23 says, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" so we are all in need of a savior to reconcile us to God.
That savior is Jesus Christ, who was both fully man and fully God. He came to earth, lived a perfect life and died to pay the penalty of sin in our place, was raised on the third day, defeating death and sin and offering life to any who would follow him.
Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (ESV)
