Our mission is to help you take your next step with Jesus.

We are a verse-by-verse Bible teaching church that gathers in historic downtown Charleston with community groups scattered throughout the Charleston area. We are an elder-led congregation committed to life-on-life discipleship, raising up the next generation of church leaders, and impacting our neighborhoods and the nations with the gospel.

Our Story

From the beginning, Citadel Square had a DNA of church planting and church revitalization. Citadel Square Church was planted in 1854 when a dozen members from FBC Charleston united with Morris Street Baptist Church in order to start a new gospel work in the Upper Peninsula. The church was called Citadel Square due to its proximity to the Citadel Military College parade grounds (now called Marion Square). Citadel Square’s vision to impact Charleston with the gospel did not stop there. Citadel Square played an integral role in planting other churches in the Charleston area.

In the summer of 2016, Centerpoint Church, a young church plant, began sharing space and partnering in mission with Citadel Square. As the church sought to define the future, Citadel Square made the decision to unite with Centerpoint. As a result, each congregation agreed that becoming one church would bring strength making both better together. On August 27, 2017, a new chapter for gospel history started as the Centerpoint joined Citadel Square Church to lead the church into a stronger future. Since 2017, we have seen God’s graciousness and faithfulness on display as he has strengthened and grown our church.
