Medical Campus Outreach (MCO) exists in hopes of glorifying God by training new generations of healthcare providers to bring the healing of the gospel to the lost and hurting world. We are supported and under the authority of Citadel Square. In line with the church's vision, our desire is to see students in all healthcare professions know Jesus, be involved in Christian community, and to take God's love to others.
Part of this vision includes a yearly overseas healthcare trip called SMI (Summer Medical Institute) to bring medical care and the gospel of Jesus to the underserved. A free healthcare clinic is set up and run by the team for the duration of the trip. Students gain experience as they train under qualified medical professionals during clinic days.
Through the years, MCO has sent out hundreds of students and providers to eight countries on five continents. This has proven to be an excellent way to see the vision of our church go overseas. While our SMI team usually ranges from 30 to 90 people, we are always supported in far greater ways by you at home. In the past few years, our church's members have supported our trips in many ways. Two years ago, our members provided multiple wheelchairs to handicapped children in South Africa. Bunk beds for a Christian school for orphans were also donated from some of our community groups. Additionally, the last two years, our members have provided vitamins and shoes to children in both South Africa and North Africa. We are so thankful for the multitudes of ways the church has supported our efforts so far.
This year's SMI team will be going to Nicaragua on May 19-27. We are very excited about spreading the gospel in Nicaragua through medicine! Citadel Square has been and will continue to cover the team in prayer. Please continue to pray for us our students raise support and prepare their hearts to serve this summer in Nicaragua!
